Great mussels with white wine, No Regrets!

Very nice and friendly wait staff with brisk sayings just as it should be for a Kölsch brewery. The food was great and the price-performance ratio was right.

Nowhere else in Cologne can you find such good mussels. Just fantastic. You are served quickly and the service is accommodating. They implemented the hygiene concept very well and even did more than necessary.

Mussels were really tasty. Our waitress was very attentive and will be back soon if I can walk again

Very good food. You get really full and the waitresses are very nice. We just had the bad luck that we were almost sitting at the door entrance, because it pulled a bit when the door was opened.

An all-round successful evening. Attentive service, great food, we will definitely be back .... Our glasses were always well filled, we got the card straight away, the food came quickly, payment was quick. We had 6 dishes, it didn't take long, everything was "right". The food was plentiful, the fried potatoes a poem, aspic, minced steak, currywurst and sauerbraten very tasty. We were more than happy with the food. On the next trip to Cologne we know where we will eat again.

The things I ordered on the menu are nicely arranged and are always served warm. The restaurant is really nicely decorated. No cheap decoration, but most of the colors were very nicely coordinated with each other. The waiters are extremely sociable and very friendly every time. That makes me and my husband thoroughly happy with every visit, and my husband and I think the prices are completely fair.

The food was very tasty. We were 5 different sizes and were all very satisfied. The service was friendly and attentive. Can only recommend the Bier-Donkey.

Went here for dinner for our first night in Cologne. Highly reccomend! Service was very welcoming and we were made to feel at home. The server gave us plenty of reccomendations for good popular in Cologne. Before we ordered mains he reccomended we try the Mettbrötchen which is a traditional German dish comprised of raw pork on bread, sometimes topped with onions or something else. I've never had raw meat before... And would never usually order it.. But I was pleasantly surprised with the dish and it was fun to try something new; I was glad he reccomended it. Mains were great; highly recommend the mussels! At the end of the meal some staff helped us out with reccomendations of where to visit in Cologne. Check this place out..! Amazing friendly service, and very good food for a good price.

Bier Esel is a traditional German restaurant. The food here is delicious and the location is in the heart of the shopping area from Koln. It is with mentioning they have a considerable selection of mussels from which you can choose besides the meat selection. Give it a try if you are in Koln.

Good quality muscles, value for money, however, all muscles are steamed with wine except one variety.

The pork knuckle here is excellent. Very succulent and perfectly cooked. A good restaurant to try and highly recommended.

Will not be awarded a Michelin star, but it does fill the stomach (portions of quite generous). Service is great.
